PHYSICAL contributes to Competency Development

SPEFL-SC’s Methodology

SPEFL-SC’s method towards physical literacy extends beyond mere bodily activity; it advocates for embodied living THROUGH physical engagement. It encompasses various elements outlined as follows:

*The SPEFL-SC approach fosters inclusivity, ensuring that every student maximizes their potential and progressively embraces an active lifestyle, rather than solely catering to elite athletes or standout performers. Students encounter diverse movement patterns aimed at skill enhancement, utilizing various uncomplicated tools to maintain engagement and facilitate the cultivation of specific competencies. Exposure to intricate bodily movements is coupled with the cultivation of bodily proficiency.

*Following the principle of cumulative learning, physical movements from fitness, yoga, sports, and dance are amalgamated to foster gross motor skills, motor cognition, complex movement proficiency, as well as conventional fitness components such as flexibility, stability, posture, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, agility, balance, coordination, power, speed, and breathing.

*Lesson plans are divided into Dynamic Learning to encourage interdisciplinary exposure with rhythmic literacy; Cognitive Games to enrich the cognitive aspect of movement; Sports Drills to hone specific skills in basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, and tennis; and Circuit Training sessions that cover various fitness elements to foster class unity.

*Emphasizing gender neutrality, all children are exposed to diverse movement patterns within a heterogeneous group setting, promoting gender equality.
